Dan Levinson
Partner/Director, Moxie Pictures
After a brief stint directing spots in Europe, I opened MOXIE PICTURES in Los Angeles in early 1992. While directing spots for MOXIE, we also started to have independent feature directors move into spots, and the first few who made the jump were Christopher Guest, Todd Phillips, Wes Anderson, and Kevin Smith.
I have had the good fortune of directing spots all over the globe for most of the world's largest marketers.
Also, I have directed numerous long form projects including "Scotland in December", a branded film for Never Compromise Golf, and recently a film that introduced the NYC 2012 Olympic bid to the world. I also was one of a select few directors for the Ronald Reagan Campaign film "A New Beginning", that introduced Reagan at the 1984 Convention. Written by Phil Dusenberry, it is regarded as one of the most influential political films done in recent times.
I saw it as early branded content.
Most recently, I executive produced the Glamour Magazine/Moxie Pictures short film project "Reel Moments." It marked the directorial debut of Gwyneth Paltrow, Trudie Styler and Jenny Bicks and starred Rosario Dawson, Lauren Graham and Debi Mazar among others.
Growing up in Manhattan, I went to Horace Mann High School and Duke University. I have been married for 8 years to my wife, Meryl Poster, We have two children, Ava is 6 1/2, and Jed is 3 1/2.
We live in Manhattan.
