David Perry
David Perry began his career as a studio musician and recording engineer in Los Angeles and New York. In 1970 he joined J. Walter Thompson, New York as Music Director, where he worked on accounts including Kodak, Ford, and Holiday Inn. He also trained as Producer. In 1974, he moved to BBDO in New York to work on the Pepsi Cola account, eventually becoming Executive Producer.
In 1978, Scali, McCabe, Sloves hired David as Director of Broadcast Production; the accounts included Volvo, Nikon, and Pioneer Production. He moved to J.W.T Chicago as Head of TV in 1986, and to Saatchi & Saatchi as Executive Vice President and Director of Broadcast Production in 1989. At Saatchi he has worked on Delta Airlines, Burger King, Beck's Beer, Procter & Gamble and General Mills.
David has been Chairman of the 4A's Broadcast Production Committee since 1992. He has also won creative awards at Cannes, Clio, D&AD and One Show. In 1991 he was one of the originators of the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase at Cannes and continues to help produce it every year. David has published articles in Downbeat and Guitar Player magazines and is a member of the American Federation of Musicians.
